Step 1 – Self Awareness
The first thing you need to do is become aware of what is going on inside of you when you are playing. You can do this by listening to the thoughts and thinking processes in your mind. You know that chatter that is like you are talking to yourself – like you are thinking. That.
When you listen to yourself you will start to notice patterns of thought. They may be of worry, fear, power, confidence, anything. Just notice what seems to be reoccurring at a more than average rate.
Step 2 – Remedial Actions
Based on what you have discovered in step 1 you’ll want to identify some remedial actions. For example, if you constantly get too confident when someone checks you might make a point to assume that this person is actually check raising you. How would you act if that was the case? Taking this into account might change how you think and act.
Remedial actions can be to just take into account an interesting thing and think about it in a different way, or it could be a hard and fast rule of action. Maybe you notice you get greedy every time someone all ins and you want to take a risk to win – your rule could be you only ever call an all in if you are 100% sure you will win.
