MIT Holdem Poker Count System Review

Are you looking to improve your Texas Holdem game? I know I am, and after reading many holdem poker guides on the internet, I’ve realized that many of them are very similar and are not very helpful. One very interesting poker system I’ve tried is the MIT Holdem Point Count System. In this review article, I plan to preview the contents of this system and tell you about my experience with this product.

MIT Holdem Point Count System

This system is written into a 7 chapter downloadable ebook, by Ray Seakan, a professional poker player with 18 years of experience. In the introduction, the author starts off by talking about himself and how he had firstly developed a blackjack system, before finally developing this poker point count system. I was personally quite impressed with the author, given the amount of work he had put into creating his system.

The guide then goes on to explain his system, and why it works fundamentally. After reading the explanation of why the system works, I became quite excited and convinced with this in-depth system. It decides for you your course of action based on mathematical percentages of each 2 card hand winning against a table of opponents. It is adjusted for table position, number of players and how many opponents fold ahead of you.

After taking all the above factors into consideration, you will arrive at a number of points. The points addition process is fully explained in the guide. It is 100% mechanical and requires no discretion on the user’s part. You do need to memorize the point count system if you do not play the e-book open.

Chapter 3 is the system counting rules. This is exactly where you’ll learn how to add points based on your table position, and then your hand strength. With your derived number of points, if it is below a certain number, you’ll fold. There are 3 other ranges of points that would determine whether you call or raise. Then it goes on to run through several useful examples to help you understand the system better.

Chapter 4 explains how to apply the point count system to blind hands. It provides very good rules to keep you out of trouble in blind positions. The rest of the chapters talk about advanced concepts of the MIT Holdem Point Count System.

Conclusion

After using the MIT Holdem Point Count System for several days, I would say that it has certainly helped me get more success with poker. Using the point count system, I have been stopped from playing hands that I might have played otherwise and lost in the end. It is also highly recommended that you do not adjust the point system, as I’ve had experiences whereby I adjusted the point system just to try and play more hands. Over the long run, I’ve concluded that it does not pay to do so.

Discipline is extremely vital to this system. The author clearly stresses this point in the final few chapters of the e-book.

City Center – The Las Vegas Project That Will Transform the City and Las Vegas Gambling

We heard all of the headlines everywhere. They gambling casinos in Las Vegas are losing money, the casinos in Atlantic City are also losing money and a lot of gaming centers nationwide are tightening up on their budget to get through the next year and a half of tough economic times. This budget tightening has also hurt the job market in these regions that depend mostly on gambling revenues to keep food on their tables, but throughout all this gloom and doom there is one company that still has the guts to bring a big project to Las Vegas and bring many jobs along with it. MGM spending $9.1 billion for its incredible City Center project which will go live by the end of 2009.

What is incredible about City Center is that it is virtually a city within a city. Whatever it you are looking for that you can do within the city whether it is shopping, dining, golf, sports or gambling you will find that you could do it all at City Center. The beauty of City Center is that you can also purchase combo rooms and lived there. It will be a city within a city that is capable of sustaining itself without much help from the outside.

All of this is coming at a time when a lot of analysts are predicting that the economic recession will probably subside in early 2010 and by this time city center will be completely finished and this will bring at least 12,000 new jobs in to Las Vegas. This new project and the new jobs that will be coming in should instantly get Las Vegas back on track to the economic booms that it was enjoying before the recession happened.

Now if you have some hindsight you would look more into investing into Las Vegas homes right now while they are very cheap and sellers can’t even give them away. This new project will also bring in more of the upscale gamblers and visitors that Las Vegas is used to having in its town. This is a very exciting project that I have been waiting for for a very long time to finally happen.

Right now our job is to get by this recession and try to save a little bit more money but it’s good to know that there are incredible projects like this in Las Vegas to look forward to the next time we planned our trip there sometime in the year 2010. The future of Las Vegas sure is looking fun

The Positive Side To Lotteries

In Western countries like USA and UK, lotteries are widely popular. It was at the start of nineteenth century in USA when the history of lottery began. In those days, private lotteries were legal. Later on, some state governments got into this business and started offering lotteries of their own.

In 1985, the states of New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine formed the first modern lottery system. Later on, other states came along and in 1988, a Lottery Association involving these states were formed. Charter members of this Association mostly sponsor Powerball. These states include Missouri, District of Columbia, West Virginia, Oregon, Kansas, Rhode Island and Iowa. The Big Game was formed in 1996. Presently it is referred as Mega Millions. This interstate lottery was formed by states that include Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, Georgia and Massachusetts. Later on, a few more states joined this Association. These states include Washington, California, Texas, New Jersey and New York.

Over the years, many interstate lotteries were introduced. Some of these include Lotto, Win for Life, Tri-State lottery, Mid West Millions, Wild Card 2, Cashola, scratch cards that are instant lottery tickets, Keno and video lottery terminals. Among these lotteries, Lotto is the most popular one together with number games like Pick 3. Some lotteries are played almost twice every day. In the range of lotteries, Sweepstakes are also involved. It basically involves marketing promotions along with promotional consumer sales. Depending on the lottery system, the winning amount can cross the one million dollar mark or it can be less than a dollar. Some lotteries are also available to international lottery players.

Lotteries have a positive side – a part of its profits are used for noble causes and charity programs. Among all these lottery options, the Pick 3 is very popular because of its minimum investment. It can be played with just $1, while there is no limit on the maximum amount that one can play. It can be played two times in the same day. Every week there are 12 drawings which include 6-day and 6-night drawings with 50-cent play offer. The top prize can reach $500. Nowadays, players use software and other strategies to win it.

Playing this lottery is quite easy. The player has to only pick three numbers in the range of 0 to 9. Thereafter, the player has to decide how to play it. Players are also required to select the day and time as well as decide how to play the selected numbers. Pick 3 lottery games are held CST times at 12:27 pm and 10:12 pm.

It has an exciting feature which is known as Sum It Up. This presents one more opportunity to win this lottery. If the sum of numbers selected by the player matches that of the sum of three declared numbers then the player is declared a winner. Because of this feature and lowest amount needed to play, this lottery remains widely popular. With a minimal investment of $1, the player stands to win $80 or $160. Players who get all matching numbers can win the maximum $500. When compared with other lottery systems, this one presents a very favorable odd.

Common Online Gambling Games

It was 1994 in the tiny island country of Antigua and Barbuda, a certain law was passed which made the location a legal jurisdiction, allowing it to issue gambling licenses. This law paved way for online gaming and until today, most gambling companies would base their business in the country to utilize their license.

The gaming software came years before the commencement of online gaming. An Isle on Man-based software company called Microgaming developed the first fully operational online casino software which gave birth to many online gambling sites. Whereas Cryptologic, an online security software company, provided the indispensable software which made internet transaction safe, secure and workable. By 1995, the first online casino was launched.

Like many things that did not have a smooth start, the launch of online gambling also met many obstacles. One major problem it met along the way was the legality of the trade. The very idea and concept of online gambling was opposed and resisted by many and especially in the United States. Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona for several times tried to prevent American citizens from gambling online and also promoted anti-gambling campaigns.

Recently, on September 30, 2006, the US Congress passed a bill stating the it is illegal for banks and credit card companies to process payments from US residents to online gambling companies. This bill later became a law which President Bush signed on October 13.

But although online gambling have up to now been fought against by many individuals, organizations and even the government, many are still captivated by the allure of this addiction. Thus despite all the disputes, supporters and players around the world are hooked in participating to online gambling. Most common online gambling games are:

  • Online Poker, or Internet Poker, is known to be partially responsible for the dramatic increase in the number of poker players worldwide. Online poker tables mostly host games of Texas hold ’em, Omaha, Seven-card stud and razz, both in tournament and ring game structures.
  • Online Casinos utilize the internet to play casino games roulette, blackjack, pachinko, baccarat and many others. Internet casinos may also be divided into three groups according to their interface: Web based casinos, Download-based casinos, and Live casinos. Web based casinos are played without the need to download software for playing games. Plug-ins must be installed in the browser to accommodate such games. Download-based casinos require clients to download software in order to play and wager on the casino games offered. The software connects to the casino service provider and handles contact without browser support. Whereas Live-based casinos allow online players to play and interact with the games played in real world casinos. In this setting, players connected online could see, hear and interact with live dealers at tables in casino studios around the world.
  • Online Sports Betting, where there are a variety of sporting events that a player could wager over the internet like fixed-odds gambling. Wagering or betting could be done through Bookmakers, spread betting firms and betting exchanges.
  • Online bingos are also available via the internet. Also for Mobile gambling, there are now developments in the utility of wireless and cellular devices in gambling notwithstanding the raucous debates for gambling online.

The Flop, Turn and River Cards

To win the pot in Texas Hold’em, the player must have the highest five-card combination at the end to collect the pot.

At the start of every hand, each player is dealt two “hole” cards face down with the ability to use the cards in the middle known as community cards. The community cards are dealt face up enabling everyone at the table to see what their best possible five card hand is.

Three betting choices exist after the betting begins. Players can either fold, call or raise. If a player doesn’t like their hole cards, they fold. If the player decides to “call” then the size of the current bet required is matched. If the player opts to “raise”, then the size of the bet is increased.

Calling or raising is the only way to stay in the game. After everyone has the opportunity to bet or fold, the three community cards are dealt. This is called the “flop”. The first player to act may “check”, without wagering any more money and still be considered an active player in the game. The first player can also bet. Once a bet is initiated, all other players must fold, call, or raise to stay in the game, including those who have initially checked.

After betting has ceased, a fourth card, called the “turn” card is dealt and another round of betting ensues. The “river” is the final card dealt which gives players the opportunity for one last round of betting.

If there is a “showdown”, with two or more remaining players, all the hole cards are shown and the best hand wins. If a tie occurs the pot is split.
